Thick Meat Sacue

Ingredients List

  • 2 Tbls Olive Oil
  • 1 large white onion, finely diced
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 3 cups (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups (16 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 Tbls brown sugar
  • 1-2 tsp salt, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • .25-.50 tsp red pepper flakes

    Directions

    1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook until onions are translucent.
    2. Add in the meats. Cook until browned; no more pink.
    3. Drain exess grease from pot. Return to heat. Add in rest of ingredients. Stir to combine.
    4. Bring to a boil, turn down heat and simmer 1-2 hours. Stir occationally.
